GripShield 2 for Switch 2 Update: Listening, Refining, Delivering

Progress on Our Switch 2 Accessories

(Updated on September 5th, 2025)

Thank you for your continued patience since our last update in July. Your support has kept us motivated as we refine the design of GripShield 2 for Switch 2. Back in July, we shared our excitement about opening pre-orders in August. Since then, we've been deep in testing and refinement — to anticipate potential concerns based on customer feedback across the Switch 2 accessory market.

(Prototypes We Validated Recently)

We've been studying common complaints about current cases and grips in the market, and combining that with insights from GripShield Gen 1 users. This data has helped us proactively improve areas like fit, usability, and long-term durability — so GripShield 2 doesn't just feel good, it solves problems before they happen. That's why the timeline has shifted — not due to any flaws, but because we're refining with intention and care.  GripShield 2 is designed to help you play long, play light, and play anywhere.

You Might Be Wondering: Where’s G-case 2?

Back in April, we announced plans to merge G-case and GripShield features into an all-in-one solution for Switch 2: G-case GripShield 2. That was our bold vision. However, as we moved into development, the Switch 2’s unique structure and increased bulk introduced major design constraints—making it difficult to ground that concept in reality. We had to rethink our approach.

The Challenge We Faced

We understand your expectations for our Switch 2 case specifically:
  • Dockability
  • Full protection
  • Unobstructed Kickstand
  • Easy installation and removal
  • Detachable Joy-con holders
  • External battery charging
  • And yes, all wrapped in a mecha-robot aesthetic.
But in practice, many of these features conflict with one another.
  1. For example, solid drop protection adds bulk, which can interfere with dock fit. A smoother dock experience typically requires a thinner back shell—but that can result in a flimsier feel. Some users are fine with either trade-off, while others aren't.
  2. The original G-case's magnetic battery design inherently blocked both dock functionality and access to the kickstand.
  3. Switch 2’s magnetically detachable Joy-con system offers limited space to securely mount removable grip holders without causing interference or compromising stability.
We did explore ways to realize an all-in-one solution, but the trade-offs were steep:
  • Higher production costs than G-case 1 with a more complicated design
  • Longer lead times
  • Bulky design that exceeds handheld comfort thresholds. It would feel like holding a Switch OLED in G-case 1 with two modular batteries stacked on top. That’s simply too much.

Our New Direction: Two Purpose-Built Cases

Rather than launching an ultra-bulky and expensive all-in-one design that few players would accept, we’ve split the solution into two streamlined cases:

  • GripShield 2 for ergonomic grip and comfort
  • G-case 2 for battery charging, still in development

GripShield 2 will launch first to meet the growing demand for grip comfort and dock compatibility. Meanwhile, we’re actively working on G-case 2—exploring lighter battery configurations and better integration solutions. This split lets us move forward efficiently without sacrificing usability or affordability.

Introducing GripShield 2

Based on post-launch market insights and gamer feedback, two priorities stood out: grip comfort and dock compatibility. These are the top two concerns when gamers are looking for a grip case.

GripShield 2 is designed to meet and exceed these demands. And it's not just black—we'll have several stunning editions, each with its own personality. Here’s what to expect:

  • Upgraded ergonomic grips to support heavier handheld play
  • Dockable design
  • Premium vegan leather front cover
  • Non-detachable Joy-con holders
  • Easy slide-on installation (no prying required, no risk of scratches, no slipping loose)
  • Solid yet lightweight build
  • Carry case bundle available
  • Affordable pricing
  • Small gadget add-ons expected alongside release
  • A lineup of stunning editions

When Will It Be Available

We know delays can be disappointing, and we're truly grateful for your patience. GripShield 2 isn't just another grip — it's a comfort-first experience built around how you actually play. Our designer and engineer are deeply detail-oriented, and they've poured their ingenuity into every curve, angle, and feature. We hope you'll feel that care in the smallest touches when you hold it in your hands.

We're currently working toward a release window around November, but we won't rush it. We'll keep you updated here as we move forward. Thank you for being part of this journey — your trust means everything to us.
